Discover affordable cement silos for hire in UK

Hiring cement silos provides a financially viable option to construction companies looking to temporarily expand their fleet of concrete equipment to effectively manage a building contract. It is a cost effective alternative to buying concrete equipment particularly when the budget available for investing in company assets is limited or equipment is only required short-term for a particular project.

Utranazz is the only company in the UK to offer a full range of concrete equipment for hire. Included in the list are horizontal or low-level mobile cement silos and vertical or permanent fixture cement silos. The low-level mobile cement silos offer the advantage of being easily transported and placed at the most convenient position with no planning permission required. Vertical cement silos are large, imposing structures made from heavy, durable steel that have been built to house and distribute cement mixtures and other powered construction materials such as PFA (pulverised fuel ash).

The selection of the appropriate concrete equipment such as cement silos often affects building-site productivity. It is therefore important for site managers and construction planners to be familiar with the characteristics of the major types of equipment most commonly used in construction. Hiring a cement silo, apart from the financial advantages also offers an opportunity to trial equipment to decide whether the return on investment warrants buying new or used concrete equipment.

The features of a fixed structure and a mobile cement silo

There are two basic types of cement silo, namely permanent or mobile. The transportable, horizontal cement silos are generally smaller and are built with mobility in mind so they can be relocated as require. Permanent silos, however are built to stand their ground where large storage volumes are required over a long-term basis. As with most types of silo of course, a cement silo will be equipped with a blower that will allow it to expel its contents in a safe and orderly fashion. The contents will generally be expelled into the back of a specially equipped truck or similar receptacle. The blower equipment can generally be detached from the cement silo itself for easier storage, even in permanent models.

Depending on its size and girth, a cement silo can be built to hold up to several hundred tonnes of dry cement. Most mobile, low-level cement silos are built to accommodate no more than a few tonnes. The larger silos will often only be found at concrete plants, where the product is stored before it's shipped to other contractors who will store the mixture in their own, smaller silos. On many construction sites, mobile cement silos are by far the preferred option as they can be moved around the site at will to wherever they are needed to be. The key advantage is that their presence at a project site does not require planning permission thus saving time and money acquiring the correct paper work. They also only take a few hours to fully set-up and dismantle in around the same amount of time.

When hiring a cement silo from Utranazz, there is also the option of adding variety of accessories. These can range from radio remote controls (which can operate the blower from a safe distance) to in-built water systems with their own on board tanks and electronic weighing systems. Such accessories are especially useful in vertical cement silos.

Volumetric concrete mixers reduce wastage by delivering exact quantities on-site

The key benefit of volumetric concrete mixers is that they can carry raw materials and batch and mix concrete on-site, when and where it is needed. This means there is no waste and that it can travel between customers without having to keep returning to base to re-load, as would be necessary with a traditional truck concrete mixers. A volumetric mixer provides a very flexible type of service where all mixes and grades, including screed and mortar, can be delivered to customers successively, allowing more deliveries to be made in a day and therefore greater profits to be made. The also have the ability to supply from very small to very large volumes of concrete. Conventional concrete mixers are not fitted with electronic weigh-batching equipment, making profitable, small-quantity deliveries almost impossible.

With a volumetric mixer the customer can estimate how much concrete is needed and then the exact quantity will be mixed on-site and that is all they pay for.
